Fluted materials using corrugated paper offer excellent insulation, safety and rigidity benefits when used in food packaging. The introduction of fluted materials which can be combined with other materials such as microwave susceptor and greaseproof is innovative, exciting and ideal for the fast growing food-to-go, ready meal and hot vending markets.
Insulated food sleeves
Ideal for soup, ready meals, sauces, hot desserts, mash, noodles: any microwaveable product for take-away and eating on-the-go. As the market demand for food-to-go, ready meals and hot vending rapidly increases, BCP have launched an innovative packaging solution under the trademark of Heat 'n' Hold.
Heat 'n' Hold is a corrugated paper food sleeve which can be applied to a plastic food container, offering excellent insulation and protection for HOT food. It replaces a standard label with added end-user benefits, maximising the convenience, safety and function of a container.
Key benefits:-
- Enables packs containing HOT food which need to be removed straight from the microwave, to be handled easily, comfortably and safely
- Enables the customer to eat straight from the pack
- Keeps hot food hot for longer
- Improves the rigidity of a container, creating potential cost savings, as weight can be taken out of the container.
- As sleeves remain on the pack during heating, cooking instructions are not removed
- Can be litho-printed up to 6 colours plus a food safe varnish
Current customers include McDonalds with an Oats So Simple microwaveable porridge; FooGo a microwaveable soup available in W H Smith, Superdrug and Livingwell Health Clubs; Primal Soup microwaveable soup.
Microwave susceptor
Susceptor is used where an authentic conventional, oven-cooked, toasted or grilled crispness is required in microwaveable food. Susceptor is available in various formats such as discs (for pizza), sleeves (hot sandwiches, sausage rolls etc) and cartons (chicken
nuggets, fries ). BCP offer microwave susceptor in 2 formats:
- Fluted susceptor - ideal for use with frozen products such as pizza, fries, garlic bread etc. and also for hot sandwiches and sausage rolls - where the flutes act to protect from the heat of the microwave when lifting the product from the oven
- Flat susceptor - gives an even toasting and crispness to the product

Greaseproof
Fluted or embossed greaseproof is used for single sheets for biscuits and bakery inner packaging, greaseproof lined baking trays, and greaseproof-lined fluted board for sandwiches, baguettes etc.
Also available are greaseproof-lined, litho-printed food boxes which can be used in airline catering, microwave and oven; a great fast food packaging solution. Our boxes allow you to hand hold a meal or snack, even when it's hot, enabling you to indulge in a complete, hot snack even on your busiest days.
Glassine
BCP is one of the few remaining corrugated paper converters of glassine in the UK. BCP Patersons offers the confectionery, biscuit and bakery markets a comprehensive range of lightweight packaging solutions, including cushion pads for chocolate boxes. BCP Patersons have also established a partnership with ABS Packmittel in Germany which gives the Group greater cushion pad capacity.
